Description
A float is like a rasp but leaves a very smooth finish. Iwasaki floats have curved rows of teeth that are very hard and very sharp and actually produce shavings rather than dust, leaving a very smooth surface. Used primarily to for fine-tuning joints, floats can also be used for shaping a wide variety of materials, from wood to composite materials like MDF. This float is 8" long with a 4" cutting length, and the surface varies in width from 1/8" to 5/8". Teeth are on the wide (side) surface of the float, hence the name ‘side’ float.
